A Fresh Perspective on Faith, Reason, and Purpose

Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2026
Format: HardcoverVerified Purchase
Life Through a New Lens is a thoughtful and engaging journey from skepticism to faith.

Through a collection of photographs, stories, observations, and reflections, the writer explores the questions, experiences, and evidence that led him from agnosticism and doubt to belief in a God who created us, loves us, and gives purpose to our lives. Along the way, readers are invited to consider their own views on faith, purpose, meaning, and truth from a new perspective (or a “new lens,” as the title nicely states).

The writing is inviting, thoughtful, and honest. I especially enjoyed the chapters that delve into scientific evidence supporting the existence of God. Not being science-minded or math-brained myself, I appreciated the fact that these particular chapters were written using explanations and vocabulary that I could easily follow and understand. I also very much enjoyed the colorful photographs that appear at the start of each chapter. They are interesting, thought-provoking and often humorous. Delightful!

Life Through a New Lens offers much to ponder, yet it remains an enjoyable and approachable read. The chapters are short and each one ends with intriguing questions and reflections that invite deeper consideration before moving on.

I read this book alone in my recliner over a period of several days. As a former teacher, I also think that it would be an excellent book to use in a study group of older adolescents or adults. The chapters/sections are organized in a manner that lends itself very well to use in a classroom-type setting.

Life Though a New Lens is a great book! I’ll be giving copies to my thirty-something sons, and I may read it again myself!

Faith Without the Maze—Just Clarity
Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2026
Format: Paperback
Reading Life Through a New Lens felt personal to me in a way I didn’t expect. Gary Meisner writes with a tone that is warm, intelligent, and deeply respectful of people who doubt, question, or don’t believe at all. He doesn’t preach or pressure. Instead, he invites you to consider — especially if you’ve dismissed faith or felt caught between belief and reason.

One of the moments that stayed with me was the mouse‑in‑the‑maze story. Gary describes a science experiment where a mouse was supposed to run a complicated maze to reach its reward. But instead of following the designed path, the mouse chewed through the wall and went straight to the cheese. It ignored the rules, the logic, and the structure — and found the truth anyway.

Gary uses this story to show how we often chase answers through complicated paths of philosophy, theology, debate, and religious ritual. Some people never reach the “cheese.” Some give up and decide it was never real. Others get lost in the maze and insist the journey itself is the point. But Gary suggests something simpler and more freeing: maybe the truth isn’t inside the maze at all. Maybe God is waiting just beyond the walls we’ve built — the rules, the rituals, the arguments — if we’re willing to step past them.

That idea really struck me. It made me reflect on how often we limit our understanding of God because we’re stuck inside our own maze — our assumptions, our doubts, our need for logic, or our past experiences with religion. Gary’s point isn’t that faith is simple, but that sometimes the walls we think are essential aren’t the path to truth at all.

This book is for anyone who has ever wondered if there might be more to life than what we can see. It’s for believers, skeptics, former believers, and even atheists. It’s a gentle, honest exploration that gives you space to think, question, and consider without pressure.

Deeply Provoking

A book that doesn’t hand you easy answers but instead gives clarity to ask the questions you didn’t even know how to put into words. His exploration of light and darkness from his own personal experiences, not theory, are disarming. “Before the light comforts you, it confronts you-and then it changes you.” I found the deepest parts of myself exposed in the best possible way. What I appreciate is the permission this book gives..permission to stand in a different place…to see the same truths I thought I knew from a different viewpoint. It doesn’t tell you what to think. It invites you into a new way of seeing. If you’ve been carrying unspoken questions about God, this book won’t just help you answer them, it will help you find courage to ask them in the first place.

Discovering Genuine Faith in Christ Through a New Lens
Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2026

Format: Paperback
This book provides a fresh approach to examining the truth about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It uses the concept of a “new lens” to share the author’s journey from skepticism to his acceptance of Christ and a genuine faith.

There are many ways that people come to faith in Christ … often through trials, tribulations, and personal crises. From my experience, I have also found that many people raised in Christian homes can become skeptics because they lack a genuine, personal experience with God that affirms their faith.

Either way, this author offers a thoughtful way to discover or rediscover genuine faith by opening a new lens and examining the truth of the Gospel in a fresh way. This book takes you through the author’s transparent journey, salted with scientific information and scriptural references … a combination of personal experience, facts, and faith-inspiring passages from scripture.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with their own journey of life and seeking a clearer understanding of the Gospel and the need for Jesus in their life.

I have known Gary for over 45 years…he’s been a great friend, colleague and confidant! In other words, I thought I knew him. However, after reading his book.. I have a new fondness for not only his intellect but his heart! He challenges the reader to “look deeply inside ourselves “ to not only see life through a “new lens” but more importantly to find that “inner peace” that each of us so desperately needs and desires! Well done Dear Friend…

A Wonderful Exploration of Faith Grown Through Reason

Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2026
Format: Paperback
I have had the pleasure of knowing the author, Gary Meisner, as an employee and as a friend. Gary brings his imagination along with logic to tell his wonderful story of coming to faith and how it has impacted his life. Gary is a gifted writer and story teller who uses these pages to bring the reader into his faith journey – from skeptic to deep faith. Like many of us, Gary’s faith grew the more he used reason and logic to see God in the day-to-day experiences of life and the amazing beauty and complexity of nature and humans.

I highly recommend this book to those wrestling with faith, those who are trying to refine their beliefs, and those who consider their faith a core part of who they are. There is a message in this book for all. It is also wonderfully presented which makes it more engaging.

Gary Meisner provides the reader with a straightforward path to learning about God’s love for us and His plan to be with us for eternity. For individuals who are “feeling a pull” to know God’s character, Life Through A Lens, examines the journey of faith. This personal account will take the reader through a transforming journey; this is not a pulpit sermon but rather a consicely written odyessy from the “travellers” perspective. If you have ever wrestled with Faith, God or your spiritual path, this book will expand your thinking and help you deepen life’s meaning and purpose.

I’ve known Gary a long time. Based on the way he lived his life, I thought he was a believer. He is a good man. But we know that isn’t enough. Gary is an analytical and in many respects he approached ‘is God and faith real?’ from that perspective. His journey and coming to faith is a strong example of what can happen when one seriously seeks ‘is God real?’ The book is particularly well written, easy to read and is ideal to share with someone who is trying to determine is God real for themselves. He told me the book was a success if it helped one person become a believer. I think it will prove to be a great success and help many find God. Well done!

Gary Meisner has written another, excellent, book that seeks and finds God’s presence, which is all around us. Gary asks those fundamental questions – asking who, why, what and where we are as individuals and of the world and the universe around us. His book goes beyond asking the question, “Is there intelligent design?” He seeks and he finds God’s answers

This book is not a platitudinous self-help book.
It’s not mystical mumbo jumbo.
It’s not prosperity preaching.
It is however a compelling and genuine account of the author’s journey to Truth.
It challenges your intellect with probing questions that lead you to his inspiring testament.
I would put this in the hands of college students before the institutions indoctrinate their brains out.
Artful analogies… easy to read. 👍
